Why would anyone looking for time and financial freedom want to be in the direct selling party business?
I just don’t get it.
You have to run around town missing out on time with your family. Parties are usually in the evening when most people spend time with loved ones.
Packing and unpacking, setting up displays, tearing down displays, in and out, weather, rain, hoping to make one time sales??? ….
Even if you sell something like makeup which would be considered a consumable, how long is it before someone has to replace their eyeshadow? I know there are expiry dates on these items but to be honest, my brown eyeshadow that I use nearly everyday has lasted for years.
I’ve heard that the commission % is higer than some other distribution models but that’s probably because there is more work involved.
I just hosted a party recently and looked closely at what the representative had to do. It was a Silpada party.
Sent me a hostess package in the mail: $8 shipping + $3-5 materials
Called all my contacts to invite them: 1-2 hours
Drive 73 km (54 minutes according to Google Maps) both ways: 2 hours
Setup and tear down time: 1 hour
The party itself: 2.5 hours
Package handout for those interested in doing a party: $2-4/each package (my best guess).
Total Sales for the party: $600
She may get 1 other person having a party out of it. She mostly likely will not have people who purchased from her at my party calling up to purchase more product on a regular basis.
So she spent approximately 7.5 hours on the party, gas, marketing/shipping expenses approx $20
I just don’t see the money making opportunity.
So I checked out the Silpada website and even if you do 5 parties a week (which is probably not something any mother of young children would do) the average you will make in a year is $68,000.
Sorry but working 5 parties a week at approx 7.5 hours per party is full time hours and to only make $68,000 a year.
Really?
It may be ok for some people, but I want financial freedom. To be able to work only 4 hours a week and make millions. That is real freedom.
I guess we all have our own dreams.
Ask me about what I’m doing to create my financial freedom.
